The Trabant stands for the GDR like no other commodity. Everyone wanted one, only a few got it. Even though the Trabi was built more than 3 million times in Zwickau, Saxony, from 1964 to 1990, the mass demand could never be satisfied.
For more than 26 years, the P601 made the East mobile. Once derided as a racing cardboard, plastic bomber or shoebox, the Trabi now has cult status and, unfortunately, is slowly becoming a rarity.
The company Werkhaus dedicates its own product line to the lovable cult small car for its 50th birthday and the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall - the racing cardboard now made of wood!
As well as the Trabant shaped the image of eastern Germany lastingly, a sustainable, innovative product series around the small faithful companion was created with the original Werkhaus plug-in system.
